Cemeteries on our route

On The American Beaches Tour we always visit Colleville American Cemetery (50 mins).

On The Allied Triangle Tour a brief stop can also be made enroute at The Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery or Ryes Commonwealth Cemetery to allow clients to pay their respects. We never visit the three cemeteries in a day and the short 15-min pause is allocated as freetime (see below).

Unlike the vast Colleville Cemetery, these small cemeteries are directly accessible from the roadside. Therefore as soon as we park and exit the vehicle we’re already in the cemetery grounds. Although 15 mins may seem short, it is still sufficient time for strolling around the cemetery grounds, paying respects and signing the visitor’s book.

Note: There will be no guide ‘presentations’ at these smaller cemeteries, and clients wishing more time on-site, with a formal brief presentation, are encouraged to consider one of our chauffeur-service customizable tours.

The US and British Airborne landings preceeded the D-Day Infantry Division Landings by 6 hrs. On the Eastern flank, the British 6th Airborne Division, and on the Western flank, the 101st & 82nd US Airborne Divisions (18,000 men in total).

Tour Delta (British Airborne): Is only available with ‘Tour Bravo’ or ‘Customize Me’ as a full-day Mix & Match Tour.

There are simply so many variables that it would be impossible to even design an Airborne Tour that would be to every client’s liking. This tour has been specifically designed with in-built flexibility, providing individual clients the oppportunity to spend 1 hour inside the Juno Beach Visitor Centre as an alternative to a 1-hr Arromanches visit. Upon request we can drop clients first at Juno, before continuing on to Arromanches (15 minutes further on) for our scheduled stop, where our main group will alight. Both locations are 1hr ‘freetime/lunch’ stops. We will return to Juno and pick clients up before meeting back up with the main group an hour later.

Our Mix & Match Tours offer clients the ultimate in touring flexibility. Whereas a half-day tour is fairly fixed in terms of route, a Mix & Match Tour is completely customizable (within the 9-hr maximum window).

In addition, there is a Bayeux hotel pick-up / drop-off option included in the price. At checkout simply select your two Half-Day Tours, add any special requirements, and proceed to checkout. Then on the day of your tour confirm your chosen itinerary with your guide enroute to your first site. Finally, on Mix & Match tours we often have a special visitor centre or museum recommendation for clients, who may then choose lunch-on-the-go with a museum visit (E.g. The fabulous Airborne Museum at Sainte-Mère-Eglise), or instead opt for a sitdown 3-course lunch.

We strongly urge Airborne enthusiasts to consider booking a full-day US Airborne or full-day British Airborne Tour, using our Premium Chauffeur-Guide Service, since it would allow for greater distances and much greater flexibility than is currently available via a semi-fixed tour – E.g. a 10-hr day. There are simply so many variables that it would be impossible to even design an Airborne Tour that would be to every client’s liking. This flexible service operates in and around Bayeux & Caen for D-Day Tours and Cultural Visits.

We also offer our Motorcycle Chauffeur Service as a long-distance transport solution.

It is also available for airport transfers, shuttles, and one-way trips. (NB: We use a two-way intercom system onboard for driver < > passenger communication. We provide a hi-viz saftety jacket, safety helmet & leather protective gloves. We request that clients wear non-laced boots or ankle shoes.
