Is Bayeux worth visiting ?
Paris day-trip clients
Would you go to Egypt and not want to see the Pyramids?
If you are travelling to Normandy for the day by train from Paris, then we sincerely recommend a 09:45 Bayeux Train Station pick-up [Mon-Fri] followed by either:
1. A full-day D-Day Tour
OR
2. A morning Bayeux sightseeing trip,(Tapestry, Cathedral & Medieval Bayeux walking tour), followed by lunch in Bayeux, and in the afternoon, a half-Day D-Day Tour (any beach sector: British, Canadian or American), with *Calvados and cheese tasting en-route at a local renowned orchard (*additional options, which require a supplement, or ‘extra’ purchased at checkout).
*Lunch not included in the tariff.
It would be such a shame to visit Bayeux and miss the stunning Cathedral, or renowned Tapestry and never to have strolled along her historical Normand streets, steeped in Caramels, Cheese & Calvados…and completely unscathed by World Wars!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us via email if you need help in any way with your booking. We endeavour to respond to all emails within 24 hrs (may vary in High- Season).
NB: For fully-customizable single, or multiple-day D-Day Tours & Cultural Visits (duration 6-10 hrs), with a day 1 Bayeux / Caen station pick-up – or a Paris Airport / Hotel pick-up – with flexible onward travel options (Mont St. Michel, St. Malo, La Loire and more…), please refer to our Transport Solutions page (on the ‘Helpful Menu’ above).
Important Booking Info
All of our Private Tours & Shuttles remain customizable for our Paris day-trip clients – as far as itineraries are concerned. However the start times & pick-up locations are fixed, and these are clearly indicated (in white) at the foot of the images accompanying each tour opposite. Since clients will need to select their pick-up location at checkout – we therefore ask that you please pay special attention to that part of the payment process, since an incorrect location chosen may result in a forfeited tour fee!
A note to our Paris-based clients
We offer a selection of Private Cultural Visits and Private or Group D-Day Tours, which have been carefully chosen with our Paris-based clients and current train schedules in mind.
See Helpful Info menu above for pick-up locations, maps, trains and more…
A note to clients: PRIVATE & GROUP Tours in 2023 and beyond...
ALL of our GROUP Tours will run from May 1st, 2023 and clients can book by completing the booking form and submitting their tour request. Confirmation is automatic.
PRIVATE Tours in 2023
ALL of our PRIVATE Tours will run from April 2nd, 2023 ‘on-demand’ and clients can book by completing the booking form and submitting their tour request. Confirmation is manual.
We will typically confirm tours within 24-hrs of receipt of clients’ booking request (*please allow up to 72-hrs approaching/during high season).
For Private Tours and Transport Solutions, a non-refundable 1€ deposit will be required to validate clients’ payment method (and full payment will be requested via secure payment link delivered via email).
None of our Payment Gateways (Stripe / PayPal) retain your credit card information at the time of making the 1€ validation payment. Therefore a secure payment link will be delivered via email following the pre-booking and tour confirmation.
This necessary security measure is essentially to prevent the delivery of bulk spam/spoof orders to our admin inbox!
Thank you for your understanding.

Travelling to Bayeux / Caen from Paris by train?
There is an excellent (2-hrs + 20-minute) direct Train Service from Paris St. Lazare (Dep: 06:00-07:00) to Bayeux (Arr: 09:00-09:35), Mon – Fri. (*The train stops briefly at Caen just before Bayeux). NB: We also advise purchasing a ‘modifiable‘ train ticket, where possible.
Please refer to individual Tour pages opposite & consult our Booking your Paris > Bayeux Train page on the Helpful Info menu above for more details.
Please always confirm train times as schedules can sometimes vary slightly.
D-Day Tours From Paris
If choosing a Paris Hotel pick-up with a Half-Day D-Day Tour (Please refer to [C5] on the ‘Transport Solutions‘ page for info), then we will collect you in Paris at 09:00, drive you to Bayeux / Caen for 12:30; wait for you at your local hotel while you check-in & freshen-up, before driving you to your chosen restaurant for lunch (we will either make an advance reservation on your behalf, or drive you to a lunch-on-the-go alternative).
Then from 14:00 to 18:00 we will embark on a customizable half day D-Day Tour of the Sector of your choosing.
If you are returning to Paris on the same day by train, we will drop you off at Bayeux Station in plenty of time for the 18:30 to 19:00 [Mon – Fri], Bayeux > Paris train.
Itinerary: 09:00 Central Paris Pick-up + 1/2 day D-Day Tour of your chosen sector, and 18:00 Bayeux Station or 18:30 Bayeux Hotel drop-off (max 8 clients).
*See the Helpful Info menu above for train info, maps, pick-up locations & more…
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions & queries not answered here, or elsewhere on our T&Cs (See About Us menu above).
Bayeux Train Station pick-up service
Hiring a car for a 8-hr total round-trip (Paris to Normandy) and a half-day 4-hr D-Day Tour can be a rather stressful, not to mention a tiring proposition!
Instead, we always recommend that clients jump on the early morning [Mon – Fri] train from Paris St. Lazare station (departing between 06:00 and 07:00), always ensuring an arrival in Bayeux between 09:00 and 09:30 (depending on the season). All of our tours from Bayeux Station have been specially designed with Paris or Caen day-trippers in mind and our careful planning makes sure you are back at Bayeux Station at 18:15 / 6.15pm latest, in plenty of time to catch the train back to Paris. And we always wait on the morning train!
Tip #1: If you depart Paris St. Lazare Station between 06:00 and 07:00am, you’ll have time to freshen up at the café opposite the train station, use the restroom & grab a quick coffee before doing some Bayeux sightseeing (Tapestry, Cathedral, Battle of Normady Museum), before grabbing lunch-on-the-go, prior to your 13:00 departure for [T5] below.
Option A: In 2023 our [T5] 5-hr American Beaches GROUP D-Day Tour (Pointe-du-hoc, Omaha-Vierville, US Cemetery + Taps + options to Visit either The US Cemetery Visitor Centre or the nearby Overlord Museum), departs central Bayeux, Place de Québec (a mere 12-mins stroll from the tiny Bayeux station) at 13:00 (Mon/Wed/Fri). Station drop-off available at 18:00 (18:15 latest).
Tip #1: If you have already seen the Tapesstry (and if Cathedrals aren’t your ‘thing’), then a visit to the nearby The Battle Of Normandy Museum is a must, prior to lunch-on-the-go, and check in for your tour at 12:50? Don’t miss out on the mini-train (Le p’tit train’) that runs around Bayeux’s medieval streets – a great 35-minute relaxing trip (you can get even off at the aforementioned museum!)
Parking: If you are arriving by car, then there is a free car-park just adjacent to the train station (2nd exit off the roundabout after the station exit), but you must still print out a ticket at the ticket machine to qualify for a free day – so don’t forget to display your ticket in your windscreen!
See Helpful Info menu above for pick-up locations, maps, trains and more…
Which Cemeteries will we visit on a Group Tour (From Bayeux) ?
On The American Beaches Tours we always visit Colleville American Cemetery (50 mins).
On specified GROUP Tours and on all PRIVATE Tours covering relevant D-Day sectors (at clients’ behest), a brief stop can also be made enroute at The Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery or Ryes Commonwealth Cemetery to allow clients to pay their respects. We never visit the three cemeteries in a day and the short 15-min pause is allocated as freetime (see below).
Unlike the vast Colleville Cemetery, these small cemeteries are directly accessible from the roadside. Therefore as soon as we park and exit the vehicle we’re already in the cemetery grounds. Although 15 mins may seem short, it is still sufficient time for strolling around the cemetery grounds, paying respects and signing the visitor’s book.
Note: There will be no guide ‘presentations’ at these smaller cemeteries, and clients wishing more time on-site, with a formal brief presentation, are encouraged to consider one of our chauffeur-service customizable tours.

Airborne Tours - 'On-Demand'
The US and British Airborne landings preceeded the D-Day Infantry Division Landings by 6 hrs. On the Eastern flank, the British 6th Airborne Division, and on the Western flank, the 101st & 82nd US Airborne Divisions (18,000 men in total).
Tour Delta (British Airborne Sector): Is only available via our [C1] or [C2] Transport Solutions service (From Paris by train to Bayeux).
Tour Echo (American Airborne Sector): Is only available via our [C1] or [C2] Transport Solutions service (From Paris by train to Bayeux).
We strongly urge Airborne enthusiasts to consider booking a full-day US Airborne or full-day British Airborne Tour, using our ‘Transport Solutions‘ service, since it would allow for greater distances and much greater flexibility than is currently available via a semi-fixed tour – E.g. a 10-hr day. There are simply so many variables that it would be impossible to even design an Airborne Tour that would be to every client’s liking. Therefore we will happily customize an Airborne Tour, and work seamlessly with you until you’re satisfied before you book.
